How to Create a GREAT Aerial Silks Act Through Improv
Goals and Motivation
- This workshop focuses on creating material and research for an act. It is less about learning tricks but more focused on taking tricks you already have and creating new tricks with them
- Having an experienced aerial coach in this workshop will make it safe and fun to explore silks without feeling like you're going to fall off
- When I create acts, I always start with music and improv so this workshop will follow a similar experience into creating original material
Skills
- The skills are all taken from the artists original skill set, and shifted and shaped into new skills
- The more advanced the aerialist the crazier the skills, although even a beginner can enjoy the exploration of this kind of workshop
- The workshop will involve music as main source of inspiration, and will be more exhausting than just learning a couple tricks in a workshop
Aerial Silks Through Intuitive Movement
Goals and Motivation
- My goal is to be able to show people how I like to use intuition and play on aerial silks
- I want to teach this through skills but show a better core understanding of how to use the silks to your advantage
- I want these workshops to be to what intensity the individual desires, so if they want to be pushed I'll push them and if they want to have fun I'll play more
About Clara Alex
Clara Alex is from Ontario, Canada and is an aerial silks specialist who started training at eleven years old. Now at twenty, she has been training aerial silks for nine years and loves other disciplines like Hula Hoop, Duo Rollerskating and Fire!
Clara graduated from The National Circus School in Montreal and has been travelling the world performing. She enjoys performing circus acts that are anything between gusty, energetic or poetic.
She's been coaching silks since she was thirteen and believes aerial silks can bring out the best in people. The type of silks she teaches is generally dynamic and playful.
